Synopsis: Avander, Teallan, and Warin run into one another and discuss breakfast.
Rating: G
Logger: Warin

Set up for use as both a massive storage area and an everyday workspace, the Lower Caverns is a single, high-ceiling room that has been blocked off into several smaller 'rooms' for different work that needs to be done. This space seems to be used by crafters and non-crafters alike, general purpose business day-to-day dealings for the weyr that don't require a specially smithed room, like the laundry area. A single hallway that loops around with both exits connecting to the Lower Caverns leads to the residential section of the weyr.

It's pre-breakfast, and most people up are in some way connected with breakfast preparation. One of those is Warin, who is currently hurrying somewhere, clipboard in hand.

Avander hasn't had his breakfast either, but doesn't mind taking the early shift so that he can make sure his breakfast is nice and hot when it is ready. Stretching, still waking up, he comes into the Lower Caverns to help move around anything that needs to be done to get things started for the day. "Morning Warin," he offers the Assistant Steward when he spots the man.

Warin stops and smiles at the storeroom worker, supplying a "Hello," of his own. Unprompted he notes, "Spice rolls today, with and without icing. I wouldn't try to nip any early, though — the cook is in a fine state this morning."

Today the kids are being split amongst other work, so Teallan is getting some time to handle some of her own work. It's likely one of those lovely days of the month where all hands are needed, such as for stirring numbweed vats and the like. The young Journeywoman is perched upon a stool in a small work area for Harpers; mostly just a desk and storage for spare instruments, paper, and writing utensils. She has a lap harp and strikes a few chords before jotting something down on paper. There's a glance up at mention of spice rolls and were it possible, her ears would perk.

Avander gives a nod with a smile to Warin at the mention of not taking things early, "I'll keep that in mind Warin…" though he turns at hearing some music, smiling at the Harper, "Good morning Journeywoman," he offers to her before looking to Warin. "Anything the kitchens need right away?"

Warin nods politely to the Harper upon hearing her harping, then returns his attention to Avander. "I believe we're pretty well set in that regard. I would send you to go check, but given your reputation in there…" He trails off, and his voice is definitely amused rather than accusitory.

"Good morning," Teallan responds, trying to hold a disinterested air. Perhaps more talk of the spice rolls will occur. She bends her head, hair falling past her shoulder, over her harp once again. Fingers move expertly over the strings in a few easy strokes and she's soon jotting more down, humming softly to herself.

Avander folds his arms, but smirks at Warin, "My reputation in the kitchen is a good one, especially compared to Talin, he's the one always trying to get a bite whenever he walks through there…" He shakes his head a bit, "But regardless, anything else that needs to get started this morning so we can maybe get ahead of schedule?"

Warin smirks, but doesn't comment further. His attention returns to the Harper, but no further talk of spice rolls is forthcoming. The scent thereof, however, is beginning to permeate the area, and more people are stirring, though it may just be coincidence. In reply to Avander's question, Warin says, "Actually, it wouldn't hurt to get a tally on how much flour is left, now that the morning supply has been requisitioned. But you don't have to do that immediately."

Avander looks over to the Harper and her composing, but figures that should leave her alone for now as he turns his attention back to Warin. "I can get right on that… Better than sitting here smelling those rolls and wishing I could have a few," he smirked, pushing himself off against the wall he had been leaning against. "Now… where did that flour get to?"

Warin says, "Last I checked, it was in the dry goods chamber, though I have no idea if it's been moved."

Avander glances back and nods, "Of course, but do I get you for help in counting?" he smirks back to Warin. He was the one with the clipboard, not Avander.

Two can play at that game. "What, afraid the number might exceed that of your fingers?" he asks, his smile wicked.

Avander still smiles as he leans against the doorframe. "And what if I was to forget the number when I come to find you? You could be clear across the Weyr by the time I'm done… Besides, it'll be faster with two people counting."

Warin says, "And also opens up to things like double counts of the same sack or similar errors. Here, take this," he offers a blank hide and a stylus from the clipboard. "And if you're feeling really ambitious, also get a count on sugar and klah bark."
