Born at Crom Hold to the harper journeywoman (Kari) Nuri's life has been always been backed by a good education. Having lived at Crom Hold, High Reaches Weyr, and finally Landing Nuri has no silly notions of weyrfolk or Holders. Her mother Kari was never expecting to have a child but after a few good nights with a blue rider from High Reaches Weyr she was pregnant. Working at Crom teaching the local children the news wasn't exactly taken well by the traditionalist in the hold but she had been there for years.

Soon Nuri was born a healthy girl. The hold accepted her as their own and though she wasn't fostered to anyone while her mother was busy with duties visiting the smaller cotholds surrounding Crom she stayed with one of the kitchen workers and her five children. Her father (Br'ant) did come to visit when he could and Nuri grew up having a grand opinion of him and his blue dragon Heth.

When she was eleven turns old her mother requested a transfer to High Reaches Weyr since her relationship with Nuri's father had been ongoing for years and she felt it would be better for Nuri to understand a Weyr as well as a Hold. Uprooting wasn't hard for the half weyrbrat since she wasn't exactly the best of friends with any of the Hold children. Preferring to use her heritage as a taunt rather than ignore it as the adults did the children of the weyr from first experience on were definitely more Nuri's type. Apprenticing under her mother as a harper Nuri had a natural talent for music but was always more interested in the transfer of information. Adept at writing her mother used her often to transcribe songs for further study and other related chores. Getting along with the Weyr's Scribe the young girl soon found herself off doing chores for him as well and soon fell into her own place at the Weyr.

When Eastern Weyr was formed and a call went out for dragonriders and Weyr staff Nuri's mother and father decided to give the new Weyr a chance. Uprooted once again at fifteen, Nuri didn't take this move as well and only went because she couldn't stand being away from her mother. Adjusting to life at the fledging weyr the now young woman soon fell into the same routine but soon after a visit to Landing Nuri declared her intention to join the fledging printer guild. Kari wanted to visit Landing to see for herself exactly what her daughter was joining and soon approved of this new endeavor but still doesn't think it will last. With Nuri's natural ability for music Kari expected her daughter to come back to the traditional harper hall, though for two years it still hasn't happened.

Settling into life at Landing Nuri has loved her life with her new craft. Though starting late she is older than most of the apprentices she works with the now almost grown up pushes herself hard to catch up. She is intently interested in the mechanics behind the machines she is learning to use and always told she should have just up and joined the smith hall. Though her ability to organize herself learned at the weyr and from her mother comes in handy all the time.
